Over the years she has studied with a variety of teachers and now studies whenever possible with Kaustub and TKV Desikachar (India) following the lineage of Krishnamacharya.
Rosie is a passionate teacher who works with Yoga and Kinesiology to support people to take responsibility for their own health and wellbeing through regular personal practice, private sessions, and classes.
Traditionally yoga was taught one-on-one though this is harder to achieve in our modern western society. The professionally qualified teachers at Awareness Yoga Lindfield employ an individual approach in small classes averaging 8 students, however private yoga therapy sessions are also available. Classes range from children's and beginner's level classes to those for the more experienced.
The word yoga means to yoke, join or unite, implying the integration of mind, body and spirit thereby achieving a steadier mind and clarity of thought which is the ultimate aim of the practice of yoga.
Whether you are needing support in dealing with stress, depression, chronic illness (such as asthma or hypertension), or wish to challenge yourself physically, yoga will benefit you. If you wish to improve concentration and mental balance Awareness Yoga Lindfield can help. We encourage non-religious spiritual exploration as yoga enables the 'yoking' of breath and movement, leading to a gradual integration of body and mind resulting in clearer thinking.
The benefits of meditation are also explored during many of the classes. The Yoga Sutras, written over 2000 years ago by Patanjali, are the source of our philosophical approach at Awareness Yoga Lindfield. For example, Sutra 1.33 "If we are pleased for those who are happier than ourselves, compassionate toward those who are unhappy, joyful with those who do praiseworthy things and remain undisturbed by the errors of others, then our minds will remain tranquil".
At Awareness Yoga Lindfield our aim is to meet people wherever they are in their life's journey and work from that point to enable growth, change and development as well as improved health. No two people are the same. All come with different physical and mental capabilities, strengths and weaknesses. Awareness Yoga Lindfield is very aware of those individual requirements and strives to establish a personal link with all students.
Yoga is much more than just a form of physical exercise, It is more than meditation. It offers many tools which can be used everyday in every life to improve a sense of well being, regain failing health, restore physical strength and flexibility. It simply puts you back in touch with happiness.
